Greetings and ..... |

Hi guys!
I have a new X3 on the boat heading for Oxnard and am building a carpc for it. But I don't fit in here anywhere that I can see (maybe I'm missing somehting ...)
You need to bring more heads together on common topics to get more heat on the board. Most of the HW and SW is similar across the board; its the installs that is different. And most people will spend more time in HW / SW than in Installs.
Vsually, you basically want a screen full of data with choices and minimize scrolling. May I suggest:
General
Hardware
Software
Installs
at the top levels,
then I'd look at mp3car.com and mimic them for H and S and follow the recent suggestion for laying out the models under installs.
However it works out, I'll be happy to share my experiences here or via emails.
I'm building an Intel Little Valley based mini-ITX system for media, NAV and a wifi hot spot. 1.3 ghz Celeron, 2 gb Flash, 1 gn RAM, 100 gb hdd, USB GPS, Linksys USB wifi. I have everything except the display on its way, and a chap is measuring a non NAV X3 for me to help in selecting a display. Will connect to the (venerable) iBUS.
Software wise, I'm going Linux (probably fedora) navit and nGhost.
Photos will be available at dspeed.zenfolio.com - our ED stuff is there now for those who want to see Munchen in November.
Hope this helps somebody.
Dave

The seperate layout is fairly deliberate to keep each model seperate.
Most other carputer forums as you say focus mainly on the hardware and software, therefore here we are focussing on the Installs in the different models to help people get an nidea of what has already been done and can be done. Also the tutorials are in with those again to make it easier to pick up info oh howto do your own install.
Thanks for your opinion though and I look forward to you documenting your install in the 'yet to be created' X3 section.
